おせち料理ってどんな料理なのでしょうか
お節(おせち)料理と言うとお正月に食べる料理の事を指していますが、何故「お節」と呼ばれているのかご存知でしょうか。お節の節は季節が移り変わる節目である節句を意味しています。
昔は節句の時に神様に料理をお供えしていてそれをお節料理と呼んでいたのですが、今では節句の中でも特に代表的なお正月に食べる料理の事を「お節料理」と呼ぶようになっています。
おせち料理は、神様にお供えする料理です。
お供えする事で家族が幸せに暮らせますようにと願いを込める縁起が良い料理でもあります。
ですから縁起が良いと言われている食材を使うのです。
それによって五穀豊穣を祈ったり、家族の安全や健康を祈ったり、子孫繁栄を祈ったりするのです。
おせち料理を見ると分かると思いますが、縁起が良いと言われている山の幸や海の幸がふんだんに使われているのも特徴です。
そんなおせち料理に入っている主な料理の意味をご紹介してみたいと思います。
【紅白の蒲鉾】 紅白がめでたくて縁起が良いと言われているのは昔からの習わしで、紅は喜ばしい事とかおめでたい事とかを指していますし、白は神聖である事を指しています。
よく結婚式等のお祝い事には紅白のお餅を配りますが、それにあやかって紅白の物を入れている様です。
【錦玉子】 玉子は白身と黄身の2色有ります。
それぞれが金色と銀色に例えられていておめでたい事としてお正月料理にはよく使われています。
「錦(にしき)」とは玉子の「2色(にしょく)」に掛けられている語呂合わせだと言う節も有ります。
